Takin' Care of Business.  It's a slogan that sums up the day at the race track for Dillon Welch.

Needing barely more than to start the final two races in order to secure the Kenyon Midget Series championship, the 15 year old racer posted "fast time" in qualifying, won the Heat race, and finished second in the Feature on Saturday afternoon at Anderson Speedway.

Despite the successful day, the driver's face showed a hint of disappointment immediately afterwards.

"I really wanted to win the Feature," Welch said.

Even though Dillon had won at Anderson five times this season, the team is always searching for ways to get faster so it altered the setup.

"The car would be a little tight in the center, and then snap loose coming off," Welch said.  "It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't perfect, so we kept tweaking."

Unfortunately, the car's handling was its worst in the 40 lap Feature.  With several Ford Focus cars between Dillon and the K-car leader, common sense prevailed.

"It was so loose I almost crashed it more than once," Welch said.   "About halfway through, I decided it would be better to bring it home in one piece."

The car rolled on the trailer intact, and the championship is secure too.

"Honestly, there will be plenty of time to think about the championship when the season's over," Dillon said.  "We've still got one more race left so there's still work to be done."
