READY TO RACE ON THURSDAYPosted by dillonuser in news |

Because of wet weather and a scheduling quirk, the Kenyon midget driver hasn't run a race since April 6th. Rain caused postponement of the Kenyon Series' scheduled event last Wednesday at Anderson Speedway. The makeup date was originially slated for this Wednesday (5/21) but it has since been pushed back to June 11, extending the gap another day.
"It seems like forever since we've raced," Welch said Monday. "Seven weeks is a long time to be out of the car."
That is precisely why Sunday's test at Mt. Lawn Speedway (New Castle) was so beneficial.
"I feel much more relaxed now," the second year Kenyon midget driver said. "I was getting too antsy being away so long."
After a handful of practice runs and a few tweaks on the chassis, Welch and crew chief Mel Kenyon deemed the car ready to park.
"We kept freeing it up and it felt great at the end, and that was on old tires" Welch said. "I can't wait 'til Thursday."
Practice starts around 5:30pm Thursday at Mt. Lawn, followed by heat races and the feature.
